My Blog : BRAND NEW LAYAWAY ARRANGEMENTS As well as their price the bears will now show a monthly layaway amount based on a 12-month layaway. This is actually not new as I've always done extended layaways but now you can actually see what it would cost you each month. For sales made in the UK, my payment preference is for cheques, sent to my Mum-in-Law, Joan, at her address in shropshire. They should all be sent in one go and post-dated to the same date of each month....i.e 20th June, 20th July, 20th August etc. For sales made in the USA the same option applies. Obviously if you want to have your character earlier you can make additional payments at any time. ********************************************************************************************************************** The bear world is a small world and already I have received several emails asking whether I will be continuing to sell Portobello bears. The answer is No, when my stock runs out I will no longer have a steady stream of new Portobello characters on my site. The Peggotty/Portobello relationship has been active for more than 7 years and I continue to have the utmost respect for the work that comes from the Portobello studio. But it is time to move on...... In the immediate weeks and months to come I will continue to offer Portobello as I obtain new images to show you and whilst my stocks run down. If this is a time for you to take advantage of my pricing structure go ahead and do so. As Amy's work increases in popularity it is anyone's guess how prices will go. Layaway will always be available. On a final note.... our email seems to be working OK now. Little Girls Do Not Grow Up : This very, very special little 18" girl" is SO pretty and was made as part of a collection that celebrated woman and their femininity. Unfortunately (for me) she is in ENGLAND and it is impossible for me to get further images of her so it would not be until she arrived that you could appreciate just what a special bear she is. Guys, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO TRUST ME ON THIS ONE - she absolutely warrants everything said about her. Her face is the sweetest ever ..... and her silk clothes are beautiful. "Little Girls.........." was always an expensive bear - when you see her you will understand why. Unfortunately I don't have any profile shots of her. Old Stock, significantly reduced : Guys, some of these characters have been around for a longish time. It's nothing to do with them, but everything to do with the fact that since we moved to the U.S. I haven't been able to do as many shows as I would have wished - and when I DO get back for Hugglets, I have to make a decision as to which bears I am taking. There's only so much room in a hire car. So these boys and girls are still hanging around, still waiting to be re-homed. I have reduced them to ROCK-BOTTOM price. How Sweet Our Love Is : Love is in the air at Portobello. It's all about romance and special memories. 'How Sweet Our Love Is' measures 20". She is made from the finest German Schulte mohair which Amy has hand-dyed to a rich cinnamon antique colour. This stunningly beautiful bear is complimented by a centre seam head and in her tummy the most exquisite sampler worked by Amy . Amy has used romantic pastels of forget-me-not blue and garden rose pink and at the bottom of the sampler, carnations and forget-me-nots add depth to the detail. She has gently aged the ultra suede pads. This bear is a stunning poetic creation and is quite a solid little bear. The arms and legs are more softly stuffed for a tactile quality.

Your Bio

Hi Collectors,

Welcome to PEGGOTTY'S new site which will ultimately carry photographs of all the bears I have in stock.

Why? Well that's easy. Updating the old site was horrendous and relied on the goodwill of my husband who never had any free time for himself. With this site I can update daily,or even hourly, if required - and I can't think of anything better than that.

SO, who or what is PEGGOTTY?

Well, Peggotty has been in business for over 14 years selling exquisite artist bears to collectors. For 8 of those years it has been under my ownership and I'm so proud of what we have to offer.

Years ago I made the decision to specialise In Portobello Bears. Why? Simply because I love them. I love the characters, I love their vintage and antique accessories, I love the creativeness of them, the thought process that goes into each individual critter and most of all, I love working with Amy and Rori.

All the bears are one-off's and cannot be repeated so once you've found the bear that really captures your heart get in touch - I'm sure we can make it happen for you. (for full layaway terms go to http://www.peggotty.f9.co.uk )

I do still have bears from one or two other artists from when I had the shop and I hope you enjoy viewing these too.

Being an Old Bear freak myself, I occasionally have an 'old boy' for re-homing. It's painful .... but sometimes a must.

As many of you know, I moved from the heart of the English countryside 2 years ago and now live in Texas. A great place to be but I miss the English shows and meeting you all more than I can tell you.

HOWEVER, onwards and upwards and my aim now is to help make Portobello Bears more accessible to American and Canadian collectors.

As mentioned, this site will be updated on a very regular basis so why not bookmark it and check back frequently? For the time being it will run in conjunction with our regular site (http://www.peggotty.f9.co.uk) which carries lots more information about Peggotty and about buying. You can go directly to our regular site by clicking the web address link shown above.

Until then, you can email me at sue.hodges@verizon.net for more images, details and pricing. In most cases I am showing only one picture per bear but I have many more images available which you can view simply by requesting.
